The Air Jordan 4 SE Black Laser marks the return of a familiar concept. Jordan brand has messed with the laser aesthetic before. A few years back, it was the Jumpman’s 25th anniversary. This time around, we celebrate yet another milestone for the iconic hoops sneaker provider.
It’s been 30 years since the original release of the Air Jordan 4. This special edition of the historic design commemorates it in style. The upper’s Black leather upper is coated in a laser pattern. The visuals on that etched scheme include different interpretations of the Jumpman brand and its history.
A White midsole jumps out as the most evident note of contrast. Right underneath that is the classic touch of a gum outsole to round things off. A few touches of bright Red come via branding on the shoe’s tongue and the insole.
It’s interesting to note that Black leather iterations of the Air Jordan 4 have a bit of a reputation among fans. For whatever reason, the Jumpman seems to pay special attention to them. The Motorsport iteration’s ‘Alternate’ colorway – also in Black – is an intriguing example. The original White version was a bit lackluster, while the Alternate scheme boasted a leather that just felt plusher.
That seems to be the case once again with this iteration. Even from the early preview images late last year, we could see some of the gloss and texture on this colorway. It’s sure to be an underrated drop as Jordan Brand spends this year celebrating the 4.
Fortunately for OG Jordan heads, that’s a good thing. The more some of these colorways go under-the-radar, the easier it’ll be to cop and add to your own collection.
Look out for this special edition of the Air Jordan 4 when it drops on January 19th!
