Air Jordan 6 Infrared OG

The Air Jordan 6 Infrared OG is going to cause quite the stir early this year. This continues the wild hype campaign of the Concord 11’s to close 2018. The brand gets off to a rocking start via the return of an all-time-great OG Jordan model.

The Infrared 6’s hold a special place in the hearts of most Jordan heads. The shoe itself comes with some wide appeal. OG collectors will remember this shoe for its special release. Back in 1990, the Air Jordan 6 drops to a clamoring fanbase. It was, thanks to Tinker’s previous Jordan designs, the most hotly pursued basketball sneaker in the world.

In fact, the shoe releases to a sneaker market that could think of nothing else but the Jumpman. So, you’ll have to forgive the older sneakerheads in your life if they get a bit nostalgic with these – don’t worry, guys. Jordan tears don’t count!

And yet, the most nostalgic element on this shoe is also why the newer followers will be hunting for this pair as well. Jordan Brand is bringing back the Nike Air branding to the shoe’s heel tab.

Much like with the Air Jordan 3, this is a highly hyped part of the 6’s OG design. This isn’t for any complicated reason, either. Simply put, the Nike Air branding was what the original release of the Air Jordan 6 contained.

For some historical context on this shoe’s greatness, consider this. Michael threw these on while winning his first NBA title – the campaign that involved the famous right-to-left mid-air hand switch against Magic Johnson’s Lakers.

The upper here is in its usual cut of nubuck, sporting what looks to be the reflective underlay we’ve seen from the last Infrared drop.

Look out for this hyped pair when it drops on February 16th, during the NBA’s All-Star weekend.
