28 years after the founding of the "Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik" in 1919 and the first joint successes, the brothers Rudolf and Adi Dassler (founder of Adidas) parted in the dispute and went their own way. Shortly afterwards Rudolf founded his own company, after 4 months the "Sport shoe factory Rudolf Dassler (RUDA)" was finally renamed "PUMA shoe factory Rudolf Dassler".
After initial successes in the 1950s, especially in football and athletics, sports legends such as the Brazilian soccer player Pelé soon entered the pitch in Puma. Just like at the 1962 World Cup in Chile, where the Brazilians won the title.
