In 1908 Marquis M. Converse founded the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in Malden, Massachusetts. At first the company focused on producing winter shoes and casual shoes made of canvas. But for the love of basketball, by the time a rather unknown sport, Converse created the first performance basketball shoe named Converse All Star.
Converse became popular when Chuck Taylor, by the time one of the most popular basketball athlete, contacted Converse to suggest improvements for the shoe, as his feet hurt him after several games.
