In Portuguese, VEJA means “look”. The founders of VEJA gave their company that name because they want everyone to look through their sneakers, look at what's behind them. As owners of their company, they aimed to reinvent the way a sneaker was made. As sneakerheads themselves, they viewed sneakers as a symbol of their generation.
VEJA sneakers are all about transparency and traceability. In 2009, they even started posting their limits on the Veja website. Everything they do, good or bad, is VEJA sources their canvas made of organic cotton from Taua, Brazil in order to make the shoe’s uppers. The cotton they use is made by organic cotton producers with the use of fertilizers or pesticides.
